We opened a group practice offering mental wellness services to our community because we love New Milford. Our vision is to help people get quick access to quality mental health services in a timely compassionate way.We believe taking care of your mental health is a critical component to maintaining overall health. That said, we work collaboratively with medical doctors, psychologists, school district officials community wellness professionals and other mental health professionals to bring an integrative approach to counseling. We know how valuable your time is and we remain mindful of our ability to meet your individual needs. Our team at New Milford Counseling Center stays mindful of what you are experiencing when you start to look for a counselor for help. The way you feel is hard enough, making a call to talk with a person you don't know about painful, private often confusing, ways you feel is really hard. Will the counselor get what it is like? The truth is how you experience things emotionally is unique to you even when a counselor specializes in depression your experience with it is what matters most and we talk with you and empathize with what you are going through and know the importance in developing a trusting relationship to fully understand the struggle it is to feel misunderstood about something very real. The therapeutic relationship you have with your therapist is a key ingredient for doing the work of counseling. The therapeutic relationship will develop when your therapist has empathy for what it must be like to feel something people may not understand. Our feelings are often misunderstood for a variety of reasons which start with feelings are hard to see unless you take the time to listen and learn about what the experience is like you may face being misunderstood about how a trauma, or having a physical health condition such as chronic pain or what a mother feels like if she is experiencing Postpartum depression. A mental health condition can impact your daily wellbeing. Counseling can make the difference when you feel ready to do the work of utilizing counseling as a tool for gaining the strength you have to make the process work best.
