Access to quality mental health care is our mission
My training and experience
I received my undergraduate degree in social work and psychology from Western Connecticut State University and a Master’s in Social Work with a specialty in children and families from Fordham Graduate School of Social Service in New York.
I have been in the field for over 20 years working with people with acute and chronic mental health conditions. My experience working with children, adolescent juvenile offenders and adults with legal and financial difficulties has prepared me to understand the research on a range of approaches used in mental health care to help bring therapists with the best training and experience together to offer increased quality behavioral health services to clients in our community in a timely manner.
I have additional training in Structural Family Therapy, Financial Social Work, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Solution-focused Brief Therapy. This training coupled with my experience working in community mental health and residential treatment as a family therapist serves to inform me to support the work of our committed therapists to help bring you empathetic nonjudgemental mental health professionals you can feel comfortable starting the process of therapy with that will not be fixed in one way of offering the help you need.
When I’m not in the office, I enjoy spending time hiking and being a part of nature, which offers me an opportunity to appreciate what our world has to offer. I am fortunate to be the father of five children and enjoy being around them with my best friend and partner Rebecca at NMCC and in life.
On a final note, being a social worker is an honor. I love being a social worker because empowering people to use their strengths to overcome what they are struggling with is inspiring. Having the opportunity to be a part of my client’s team on their journey to self-discovery and transformation from a renewed commitment to self-care creates a positive energy that is tremendously rewarding. Sometimes, providing you with information about resources in the community can help you accomplish your goals. Other times you may need to do more in-depth counseling to get to that place.
We can discuss your needs during a phone consultation to determine how we could best help you. We are also happy to refer you to other professionals should we determine that you need other resources in the community. Check out our services and resources page for additional information to help you make your decision.
