It is an honor to have the privilege of creating a safe space for people to explore their emotions and behaviors. I am continually learning from my clients and find their strength to be inspiring. My goal as a therapist is to help people find and recognize strengths, achieve contentment, and make effective change, all at their own pace.
My clients often come to me because they are struggling with managing relationships, determining the next steps in life, or are faced with the challenge of finding time to care for themselves. Some are struggling to forgive themselves, others want to understand themselves. If this is resonating with you, then we could certainly be a good fit. I know from my years of experience that you can make changes in your life.
I take an empathic, strengths based and direct approach to our sessions. I have found this is very effective in helping my clients begin feeling confident and unburdened in their lives. I consider each person as an individual within a greater environment, creating a unique treatment plan that embraces the person.
A Little More About Me
I earned a BSW from Western Connecticut State University in 1998 and an MSW from Fordham University in 2001. I have been licensed as a clinical social worker since 2004.
My experience includes working with women struggling with life transitions, anxiety and difficulty with partners or children, family therapy, individual therapy to address mood disorders and group work.
To strengthen my work, I have been trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and treatment for perinatal anxiety and depression. Much of my work is also informed by my training in parent education.
When I’m not in the office, I am teaching Social Work as an Assistant Professor of Social Work at WCSU, which serves to keep me grounded in the values and ethics of my profession. I also serve on the boards of community based agencies.
I hope you’ll reach out today, so we can begin working together on this journey.
